I hate this G6!

I have a 2007 G6 with 25,000 miles on it. Whenever I crank the wheel to the left, I hear the loud clunk that was mentioned in other threads.

Today I am driving this vehicle and I went to start the vehicle to hear a very loud noise from under the hood, almost as if a chainsaw were being started under the hood. I shut the car off, opened the hood, noticed nothing. I restarted the car, no problems.

I will be driving down the road and the car will almost act if the tranny is slipping...which shouldn't happen on a new car!

The car is under factory warranty, but I just haven't had the time to get it in, anyone else having these problems, and if so, what was the outcome??

Re: I hate this G6!

Yep I've been through a few of those issues. First off I'd bring it in to the dealer since you should still be covered by the warranty.

The Steering Wheel clunk could be either your tie rod ends or your intermediate steering shaft. Either way you are covered by warranty so I'd bring the car in and get that fixed. Once you get it fixed you shouldn't have anymore problems... i know i didnt

The Trany slipping... are there specific times it happens over others? What Engine do you have in your 6? I had an 06 GTP with the 3.9L. My trans started slipping as well at one point. Coming from a start it would slip and slam into gear as well as downshifting really hard. My cause of this issue was caused by a computer glich (since my SES light was on) where my ECM froze and the dealer had to reflash it. The other cause was the throttle body was shorting out. The 3.9L has an electronic throttle body so it wasn't communicating to the ECM and the TCM properly while it was shorting out causing the eractic shifts and hard shifts.

The "chainsaw" type noise unfortunetly I cant help you with this. If it does happen agian I would suggest you pop the hood to see where it is coming from before you turn off the car.

Again I'd address this all to the dealer when you have a chance to bring it in. The clunk noise is common, the rest of your concerns, I haven't seen many 6's with those issue or any major issues to be honest.

Re: I hate this G6!

Clunk is from the intermediate steering shaft...a well documented issue.
