center console light

The light next to my shifter (2002 Automatic Cavalier) is out. Now I have never had a car before so I was wondering if it would be a fuse or if it's more likely the bulb. If it's the bulb, how would I replace that?

P.S. I'm a poor college student so I cant afford to have someone else do it.

Thank you any help.

Most likely the bulb bud. You have to remove the whole center console. There are 2 screws inside the armrest, one under the window switches ( or empty cup of manual windows) and then one in the front big tray portion of the center console. There is a cap covering it. Manuever the console out, and once you get it over the shifter ( shift knob comes off after pulling the u-clip in front and pulling straight up once removed). There is an accessory lighter on the passenger side of some cars 02-05 you'll need to remove the connector. Or you may have access to the lightbulb without pulling the console all the way out...

g'luck.
