Question Installing Amps Rear of 02 Explorer

I have a 02 Explorer and I am planning to install 2 amps and subwoofer box in the rear of the truck. One of the amps for the subwoofer and the other to the 4 inside speakers but I have no idea how to run the wires (Power, Remore and RCA) to the back. I think I have to run it thru the floor but I have no clue. I know how to hook everything up once I can figure where to run the cables. Please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Installing Amps Rear of 02 Explorer

the cleanest and yet toughest way would be under the carpet. if you do it this way be careful where everything bolts back down. you dont want to hit any of the wires you just ran. you could do it under the trim panels as well, but it may be more time consuming. i have always had luck under the carpet on the cars i have done. good luck!

Re: Installing Amps Rear of 02 Explorer

This past weekend I ran a power cable for an amp and sub in my 2000. Granted it's a different body style, but was able able to cleanly run the power cable along with the brake and fuel lines underneath the vehicle. There were open slots in the brake/fuel line isolator mounts which were the perfect size for the 8 guage power cable. Just behind the front seats under the door jamb trim piece there was a rubber body drain plug. I made an "x" slit in the plug and ran the power cable into the body and under the carpet to the rear at that point. I have some nitrile covered kevlar braided sleeving that I used at any location where the cable could rub the steel lines or where it transitioned through the frame. That was easier for me than trying to snake the cable through one of the grommets in the firewall.
