car leans

my 89 caprice leans to the left and i belive it to be a bad sprig in the front but is there a rubber bushing under the springs. i am curious cause if there is supposed to be i want to replace this first incase this is the prblem.

If you mean sagging...this is the spring very common, but usually on the passenger side...rubber under the spring is something that I never seen...there is a top isolator piece that sets at the very top...it is thin..

In the 80's because GM had hieght issues and then alignment corrections they had some tsb about spring shims...I believe 1/8 inch in thickness under the springs...2 max...this would increase hieght 1/4-3/8 inch..

since you have requested this info I find that indeed this was a large widespread problem for GM....

this TSB 85-3-20 ref # 85-046-3 and there are others as well use the shim part # 25524879.....this TSB came out in 1985 ...

they had problems when built to correct for a hieght problem so bad that this affected the ability to properly adjust for correct wheel alignment..

I would get new springs and If necessary cut springs slightly to set even hieght if necessary...this has been done,,,, many vehicle owners have done this ...you use a cut off wheel...

Re: car leans

Mine used to lean as well, until I replaced the springs.
