favorite weekend car: Maserati 4200 GT, Ferrari 355 F1, Porsche 996 C4S or 500 SL?

Which is your favorite car for weekends that can give you enjoyment at driving and owning without too much burden your pocket for maintaining it? ..

Well for most fun I go w/the F355 but manual not F1...screw manumatics

Anyways...but in terms of least amount spent in maintenance...none of them since they all will cost you a pretty penny in maintenance...

But if I had to choose one JUST BASED on MAINTENANCE costs...Merc

nissan .. thank u for your respon ..
I really have a headache about these choices .. I really like to buy the new SL .. the style is handsome .. but the interior quality is down grade if I compare with the last SL ... and I am not sure about the handling .. you know .. MB is not a pure sport car base .. heheheh .. I like to drive fast ..

About 355 F1 .. it seem you don't like it .. may I know your reason why?
anyway I really appreciate your comment ..

I agree w/you on the Benz not being a TRUE sports car...it does have alot of sports car qualities...the SL is nice and has a great engine, amazing brakes and all...but I think it loses out b/c of the lack of a manual in the upper level cars and it's suspension is not TRULY sports car like...it does behave like one but doesnt ACT like one...

The F1 well...I know it's a great transmission...the best non stick tranny out there...close 2nd is the Porsche Tiptronic (but I dont like that one)...so the F1 is nice...but when you have a manual option that goes Snick Snick Snick at every shift...it's part of the whole experience of being in a Ferrari...that's just me...

I like stick cars!

The Maserati or the Porsche- in a Ferrari parts are FAR too expensive and servicing is a PITA, the Merc just isn't a sports car- but at least it has been to weight watchers.

The Porsche and Maserati comes down to whether you need AWD or not, also whether you want practicality or character

Nissan ... great comment ..
I agree with u about the car suspension. About the MB manual trans, I don't think it's a good one. Last time I had 300E with stick ... but the stick was so rubbery .. it was quite difficult to shift it quick .. have to really push it ... u know what I mean ... BMW 5 series still much better ..
.. it just my personal opinions ... what do u think?

yes I knew about the click sound at everyshift ... sound great .. Me myself like the manual ... but here the road jam very often .. especially at saturday ... ... only at sunday much better .. ..

it's great to have a good discussion with u ...

Thank you for the valuable input jimster ..

How about the Maserati reability? can u give me information about it. I love the Maserati interior quality and two tone leather. I test drove the 3200 matic about two weeks ago ... the low and med power was quite good .. but the upper not so good .. the car can be drive smoothly in the traffic (very slow moving) .. the temp keep cool ... handling quite good and comfy for a sport car .. but I really like to have the comment about the new 4200 cambiocorsa ... the acceleration from 0-100 km/hr faster than 3200 ...

The 3200 was a bit of a worry- turbo's being the biggest worry- however Ferrari have sorted the reliability issues and now the 4200 Coupe has the reliability to go with the price But the N/A Masser is definitley a better driver then the Turbo

ok .. I got it .. .. Now I am toward Masser or 996 ... anyway do u know someone here who already own the 4200 cambiocorsa? ... or do u have it jimster?
I think Maserati 4200 is a good deal for a sport car ... the spec almost like ferrari but much cheaper ... .. I like the rear end of the 4200 but the front end ... eehmm .. still trying to enjoy it from the brochure i got ..

btw . . . my opinion on this topic is that i wouldnt pick any of those cars . . . for less money i would be in the seat of a 993 turbo, which i think is far superior to any of these cars in every sportscar charecteristic . . . and i definitely think it would be more fun to drive

Having never owned one of the cars or know anyone who has one. All I can say is I'd suffer through think and thin with the Porsche over the others.

That's from BMW right? .. .. have 11 different programs ... that's nice too ... but I forgot which one faster to shift between SMG and Cambiocorsa (Ferrari and Maserati) ? ... but I knew from some of the car magazine reports that Cambiocorsa is not smooth on part throttle ...

interesting comment .. ... but the model little bit outdated ... how about the high speed stability? .. coz I heard that the previous porsche slightly light at high speed ... is it true or not?

But for the fun to drive I agree with u .. btw the new maserati cambiocorsa (like f1 trans in Ferrari) can sprint 0-100kmh (62 mph) in 4,9 second and top speed about 285 kmh (178 mph) ... it's not bad right
