charging system issue ?
2004 Honda Accord, about 55K miles. About 3 months back, it sometimes hard to start. I had the battery checked and it was OK, but anyhow I had the battery changed. Recently the problem resurfaced. The car hard to start and have to extend cranking times to start the car. Once is started it runs fine until at stop signs, where it vibrates and stalled. The battery light and low oil pressure light were on. Above problem only happened twice (and gone) when my wife drove it last week. I brought the car to the garage and was told the battery is OK (the battery has 14V output), except when applying load the voltage drops but came back when RPM is up. He is suspecting the alternator problem but not sure. I was told to bring the car back when the problem occurring

Re: charging system issue ?
Hard to start??? Could be spark plug problems and that could also be a reason for rought idling at slow speeds. If the engine runs at a very slow speed, then that could cause the alternator (battery) light to come on.
I would be concerned about the oil pressure light coming on . It will come on when the engine is not running, but I have never seen it come on while the engine is idleing. |
