96 F250 No speedo eratic tranny Lil help if you can

Got a 96F250 , The speedo went to bouncein back and forth thus causing the tranny to go awall. Changed the sensor on the the rear end that made the abs light go out but still have no speedo. There is no speedo cable on the tailshaft just a block off plate Its gotta be electronic just dont know where to look. The autozone guys have no clue Tranny says metric on it. If anyone can point me in the right direction, shoot me soom info

Ford usually uses a sensor that runs off the tail shaft. It should be round about 1" diameter with two wires coming off of it. Unplug this sensor with the vehicle on four jack stands. Have somebody run it just so the tires spin use an ohm meter it should go from zero to one. If it does this unplug the instrument cluster check this wire it should go from zero to one. Normally its one of these two items but can be the computer or wiring. I think it depends on the state in Georgia you can't buy parts for this at the dealer.
http://www.speedometerservice.com/ would sell some others you had to bring in the cluster and fill out paperwork on how many additional miles were on it and they would fix it and add the miles. They they added a tag stating the repairs that were done. Otherwise buy a scrap yard cluster and install your old odometer so the miles are the same. Just google speedometer repairs and look for one where you live.

Checked the tailshaft no luck Its there but its just got a block off plate on it, no wires our cable.

Thanks Dwor for the info. Gonna replace the diff sensor with another one and see if thats it, some one told me to check the frame ground.Well see what that does, If that doesent do it Ill be headin to the scrap yards.

Check computer, speed signal goes to computer before speedo head. Also, check connector at computer in engine compartment on right side of brake booster. Hope this helps!

How do you check a computer?

Got the right sensor helped a little still not working right,the abs light is back on, cleaned the body to frame ground and checked the plug going into the dash by the brake booster didnt see any problem.Did notice that ther was a check plug?? in the same wire loom it had 4 pins in it.
Any one else have any other tips?

Hey got the problem fixed Ran new wire from the rearend to as close to the dash as I could and it cured my problem also made my radio stop buzzing go figure.
