plastic Hamilton kit?

i wonder after his championship win, would any kit manufactuer shell out for the rights to make a kit of his?

i would think it would be popular - and not just with modelers, and after hornby had the 'hamilton effect' with the scalelectric sets, would they shell out for an airfix kit?

Airfix Mclaren, good news and bad.

Not sure if this has been posted but..

Good news:
I've just heard from a good source that the Airfix Kit of Lewis Hamilton's Mclaren will be released in time for Christmas.

Bad news:
It will be 32nd scale.
It will be a snap together kit.
It will have eleven parts.
It will cost £25.

Re: Airfix Mclaren, good news and bad.

It's the copy of a Scaletrix toy.
I'm not even sure it is representing this seasons or last seasons McLaren F1 car.
It's way to expensive? So what there are so many Hamilton fans that know squat about scale models or about the Mclaren F1 car he drove, who would still buy it!

Oh and Airfix say that they will make a bigger scale model of it if it sells well!

Re: Airfix Mclaren, good news and bad.

It's apparently prepainted, and requires a screwdriver for assembly.

Here's what Airfix sez about it.

But the real question is, will it come with the Hamilton figure?

...from the back of the box: "This car has an MP4-21 body with a 2008 livery."

So they sell the 2006 car with a 2008 livery and a Hamilton figure! And they expect modelers to buy it and upon the sale numbers they might or might NOT, produce a 1/20 scale kit!

What a joke!

Re: plastic Hamilton kit?

Even though I'm new around this forum, I do know that I wouldn't buy it, even if it were scaled up. I'm not a fan of him.

Why do a lot of people dislike Lewis Hamillton...???? Seems like a decent sort of chap to me.I can't understand the animosity towards him myself.

I never said I hated him. I'm not too sure why I'm not a fan of him. I think I'm annoyed at hearing his name so often. I don't get to watch that many F1 races, however I felt like I heard his name way too much last season. Then again that could be attributed to him winning the championship and being the youngest to do so.

Re: plastic Hamilton kit?

if you want a Hamilton kit so bad, get either the Studio 27 or Tameo/Silverline Kits.

To much balls to little brain usage and a high dose of arrogance.

Uhu, that's so true. A newspaper asked him once,'Where would you place yourself in terms of all time greatest?' and he said "Well, I'm definately better than Schumacher or Senna"

He is talented driver, but he has too much arrogance. It's not difficult being nr 1 when yuo're in the second best team. Put Vettel f.e. a year in a McLaren/Ferrari, you'll see he beats the c@p out of Hamilton. All I'm sayin' is he had the road cut out for him. Other drivers have to fight to win a place in a topteam, even if they're supertalented (Raļkonnen,Massa,...) It's not the car that decides if you're worthy of being a champion, it's how you race it (look @ Schumi in his Benneton; 2* WC)

To me, Massa is the WC of 2008; but Ferrari screwed it up for him (The pitstop in Signapore cost him the title)

Re: plastic Hamilton kit?

Really? And here I thought Glock handed it over. Hamilton is a good driver, and will get better, but he's not the phenomenon that TV makes him out to be; at least not until he quits his rookie behavior (racing cars and not saving the car, plowing into car at a pit out red light...) Massa worked harder this season, Hamilton caught some breaks, but whatever. Let's see Renault in 2009.

see that is the problem with the media and the people who think everything is true what is written in magazines or on websites...
Just show me one interview, audio or video, where he says something like that. Otherwise it is just bullshit made up by the press....

He was up against a 2-time world champion in his rookie season and did pretty well if you ask me...

Ok I don't want to make this too much OT so I would like to add that Studio27 will release a MP4/23 Brazil version in december

Re: plastic Hamilton kit?

Just got back from the IPMS UK show and Airfix had the "kit" on their stand

Couldn't get much closer for detail shots but at quick glance, there isn't much detail anyway
