2003 grand prix gt starts then dies

My daughter has a 2003 grand prix. She came home from college on friday. I was going to put new brakes on the rear. I started the car and it ran about 3 seconds then died. I am guessing that it is probably some electronic fuel system probem. I have used this forum before with great success. Somebody usually knows what the problem is. So thanks in advance. This is a great tool.

How old is the fuel filter? Best to check fuel pressure at the front rail to see if in specs. 48-55 psi. There is a Schrader valve located by the fuel pressure regulator to connect the gauge.

What motor do you have?

Bob the 2003 L67 doesnt have a fuel pump resistor does it?

To the OP, can you keep it running by giving it gas?

Tim, according to the OP this is a GT so NA SII 3800.

The fuel pump resistor is only applicable to '97-'00 GTP (L67).

Sorry must have missed that part about the GT.

Also thanks for clarifying on the resistor.
