My first attempt what do you think...?

Ok, i have wanted to mod my civic for some time now. I have had the car since 96 (its a 96 civic ex). This is the first time i am going to attempt to do anything to the car. I dont know a lot, but i know a little bit and my friend is going to help me out so i dont mess it up . I am planning on puting a cold air intake and exost in for the first 2 thigns i do. Now everything in the car is stock right now, i want to hear your opinions on it, do you think this would be to ordanary or should i do something else? i dont have a lot of money to do stuff to it :-\. But would really like to make its preformance better before i start on the body. So what do you think about my situation?

sorry for spelling not very good at it.

depends on how much money you have to spend

10.5 comp pistons : 400
stage 1 cam : 400
cold air intake : 300
header : 300
exhaust : 500

for only around 1500 more than the prices of those parts, you can get a b16 swap which costs around 3500 installed at a shop

haha...get rid of that WEAK SOHC VTEC! j/k...nah, i'd say unless u really wanna get deep into it, jus go with simple intake header exhaust set-up (ur not gonna really see much of a power gain, but it is a good starting point) an from there, work on the exterior. really jus depends on whether or not u wanna be able to run a 13 second 1/4 mile or if u jus want a car that looks clean rollin down the road...or both.

i say buy a cheap intake and put it on. save the rest of your money and fuel your need to work on your ride by doing DIY mods,

or take your money and build a junkyard turbo set-up

ps. intake and exhaust adds hardly anything but an abnoixious farting noise comming out of your 5in exhaust tip...take it from me i own a civic and its not fast..and i wouldnt waste my money to make it fast...just please if you plan on keeping your civic dont rice it out......please!!! AT LEAST get a swap and a turbo if you like your civic that much...you can get a gsx turbo for around $2200 but just make sure you have an engine that can handle it...My friend had an accord and put a turbo on the stock engine a blew it up within months..it was gay

thanks for the informative post
<--- feels much dumber now.

there are many hondas out there that hold there own aginest a v8.
and if your friend is so stupid to blow a stock motor with a turbo on it he should'nt have got 1 to begin with.

and this is the honda fourm in case you were lost

if this kid feels like ricing his car out why should you care? it's not your money or car...nOOb

imprtgurl...wut does it matter? this guy WANTS to do something to his car, he wasn't asking IF he should, so its NOT ur place to tell him whether or not to do a simple set-up. as for ur "awd turbo" cars, the gsx stock isn't much of a car...a car that weighs 3300 lbs an pushes 210 TO THE FLYWHEEL from the factory? wow..."i have a turbo'd car that only puts 180hp to the ground..." jus cuz ur civic is slow, an u don't like it, doesn't mean there aren't civics/hondas out there that are VERY respectable. driving a car that has an I4 doesn't make u slower then someone w/ a V8. simply depends on taste. so unless u have anything constructive to say...stay off the board.

in responce to shepworldwide reply, how the hell does someone go about doing that in the picture. and i really dont want to rice out my civic, i want to just get a little more power out of it with not to much money so i can make my self feel better. i did not go buy the car it was a hand me down...and i have taken care of it for awhile now. i want to stay away from riceing it out, just to make it have a little more power and make it look a little better. and from what i have read, you ugys think intake and exaust. i dont think a swap just yet, dont really have much money. so thanks for your guys help!
