truck won't go in reverse

can anyone help me with my proplem.
my truck won't go in reverse and the engine is racing from 0-20mph.
just happened today

Well what year make and model and engine and mileage and transmission 2 or 4W
No reverse is not good.
Have you checked the fluid level and condition?
What other gears beside reverse has it lost?
Does it make any noise?

sounds like need tranny rebuilt or put a used one in.but you never said 2 wheel or 4 drive and make and model?
