A bad Vue???

Tried out a 2004 Vue today with 57000 miles. The thing is as close to mint condition as you can get. There are a couple of things that have me concerned. By the way it has the 4cyl with manual trans. When you let out the clutch just as it's engaging there is a slight vibration. Not clutch chatter by any means. I've had vehicles that did that and know how to recognize it. You also feel the slight vibration when you first put pressure on it. When it's to the floor it's smooth. When you're driving down the road and put slight pressure on it you can feel it. Feels like engine/drive line vibration. I have read in other posts that Saturn claims this to be normal. I took it to my mechanic for an inspection at they didn't even notice it at first. Now that I did some inspection myself I noticed the engine does not idle smooth, it has a steady shake to it. I also took it for a ride straight highway and it only got 21.3 mpg.

Is this one to avoid?

Re: A bad Vue???

I'd probably say a slight vibration within the clutch is more then likely normal. If your mechanic didn't notice then I wouldn't worry about it. For the Engine I would say the car may need a little tune up, a new airfilter, plus/wires and maybe some injector cleaning. That was some low MPG for a 4cyl vue. If this a used car sitting a car lot who knows when the last time the car had a good highway run.

Re: A bad Vue???

It's only been on the lot for a few weeks. We walked away from the deal. I'll see if the thing is on the lot down the road and check if they did anything to it. The engine shake was also a concern. The last vehicle I owned that did that had a weak cylinder. It wasn't typical engine vibration it was more of a steady, call it violent shake. You couldn't really feel it sitting inside the vehicle but if you left a door open, it would start to shake as well. I loved the condition of this one but something told me to let it go.

A bad feeling is a bad feeling.... sometimes it best that you follow them. I personally haven't heard too many issues with the 4cyl models overall and i don't have too much experince with them.
