96 sunfire 2.2 fuel filter
How to disconnect the quick connect fitting on the fuel line that connects to the fuel filter on a 96 Sunfire? The fitting that I am referring looks like a bottle cap with 4 tabs, black in color. thanks

Re: 96 sunfire 2.2 fuel filter
There is a disconnect tool that snaps on over the line and pushes in to release the tabs. Should be available at an auto parts store.

Re: 96 sunfire 2.2 fuel filter
Releasing the 4 tabs is not the issue. I can do that without the tool that you are referring to. Once the tabs are disengaged, the filter still won't come off. It is not seized because I can spin it around the line.

Re: 96 sunfire 2.2 fuel filter
Its a real bitch... Get a open end wrench and use the old filter for leverage and push the black connector back into the housing. Its a real bitch...
I got rid of the whole connector system and with with a 6an stainless steel hose and AN connectors on an aeromotive filter.
