05 v6 problems revving idle & overheating

my 05 started revving high at idle...took it to my shop and changed the tb. that solved the issue for a while but has come back at a rather smaller rev But now the car has begun to overheat! left me stranded on the side of the road more than once! my shop replaced the sensor and the fan switch first time to solve the problem, but this does not seem to solve the problem.

the catch is that if you catch the car about to overheat and turn it off to sit for a while, then turn it back on it is completely fine until the next time it decides to overheat again!

anyone seen this before? the car was in an accident before this all started happening (deer dumbly decided to run accross the interstate at night), and the radiator and the fan were replaced then.

Re: 05 v6 problems revving idle & overheating

Did the shop change the thermostat when the changed the other items? If not try changing that out. If you want to find out if your fan is coming on a quick way is to turn on the air conditioning. The cooling fan is supposed to kick on immediately. If it doesn't then it's not working.

Hard to say what your reving issue is. Could be one of many things. The engine computer controls idle speed with the Idle Air Control Solenoid (IAC). Did the shop install a new one with the new throttle body, or just transfer the old one over? You could start with that I guess. Also check for vacume leaks.
