I'm lookin to sell my crx, and look into buyin a civic. What kinda civics do you think I could get for under $5000. I really want like a 92+ civic with hopefully pw and pl. Just wondering what you guys think I could get for that price range. Thanks.

get either a 92-95 hatch or a 96-00 hatch they both have a lot of parts available for them and they are good platforms to start off with and not to mention they are light too. i prefer a 92-95 si or cx i will get the si if you want power windows, locks, sunroof, ps, ac, and its already wired up for vtec, but all this extra stuff adds weight(not much though). if you get a cx it doesn't have any of that extra weight, but its not wired for vtec.

How much would a "cheap 92-95 hatch" be? And what kind of price rang would the swaps be? Thanks for your help.

you can find maybe a 92-95 dx or cx for like 2,000-2,500 or maybe even less(this is the usual price around where i live) and throw a jdm b16a complete changeover from a sir2 which is a direct swap and everytrhing bolts up for $2,000(if you're lucky)-$2,350(www.hmotorsonline.com). thats under $5,000 for the car and a swap if you are going to do it yourself

I think I might want a coupe though. What would be a good choice in coupes? And maybe swaps too.

If you really want to be hardcore you can find a body w/o an engine in a junk yard somewhere... drop a b18c in there and that's about $5000 dollars including installation. But I do recommend you getting all the important stuff if you swap, suspension, front brake upgrade, rear disk brakes, tachometer (I think the 92-95 cx's don't have em) and you need do some piping for the exhaust I think...
But If you don't wanna do that now you can buy a used 92 hatch with all that stuff you want for about 3k.

Ask yourself this question: Which would I rather have? Comfort or more speed?
If you want daily driver comfort, go EX coupe or Si hatch. I have an EX and love it. Power windows and sunroof are awesome. You've already got the d16z6 in there which is a decent starting point if you don't want to swap. Its wired for VTEC if you do wanna swap. If you want more speed, go lightweight and get a CX or DX hatch or a DX coupe. Its of course going to weigh less which will make it a bit faster. You do lose all your nice features like the sunroof plus start out on a 1.5L engine. Between coupe and hatch, its all personal preference. I personally like the coupe better. I could care less if it weighs more. I want to be comfortable. Plus I simply like how it looks. Again, just my opinion. You should easily be able to find a good car under $5k. Just shop around, research it by going to sites like kbb.com, and have a mechanic look at it before you jump on anything.
