a few odd problems
(if this turns out to be a repeat thread i appoligize, the computinish has been acting odd far a few days now, just delete the old thread, sorry for any inconvience this may caused, my bad)
1993 Chevy Caprice Classic LS 305 cid. same as 5.0L 209,532 miles on the clock and still tickin' a few odd problems i'm having with my car i'm at a total loss for ideas here i really need all the help i can get thanxx 1. my trans., its either the 700R4 or 4L80(E) i'm not sure, but all the shift points are late, for example they are between 10-40 mph over what they should be, i don't like the idea of my engine turning that fast (4000 rpms just to get to shift in to 2nd) i've tried shifting manually to get it to kick, no luck its been doing this off and on for a couple months now usualy for a day or 2 and its generaly a little late, not like it is now shift points, (these are at normal acceleration) 1st to 2nd should be 15 mph, mine is 25-35, 2nd to 3rd should be 30 mph, mine is 30-65 mph, 3rd to OD, should be 45 mph, mine is 45-80+ mph at this point in time i'm very concerned my car didn't shift into OD last night on my way home on the high way until about 90 mph i NEVER push my car that hard but i needed it to shift, i know you're supposed to feel the trans. shift a little bit, but mine kicks, hard, like it has a very firm shift kit in it, to the point where it almost gives you whip-lash any ideas please, before i end up killing the engine because of this 2nd problem, i don't know if you'd call this a problem, but it has me baffeled, the toe and camber is off on my car, there is about 10 degrees of positive camber on both sides, the top of the wheel is facing inward, and its toed in about 10 degrees on both sides, and its a solid rear axle, they're no welds or creases in the frame signafying some type of a hard impact i've never seen any thing like this and it has me beyond confused 3rd problem, when i turn to the right at too fast of a speed, thanx to the overly soft suspension and the astronomical amounts of body roll as a result of, there if a nice kind of "crunch" that comes from the front left side of my car, this not only happens when i turn too hard to the right, but when ever the suspension is exetrmely compressed, from hitting a bump too hard, i'm thinking A-arm bushings, there is no shimmy at high speeds and the steering is still tight, again i'm thinking A-arm bushings or just throw the after market suspension from my buddy's wrecked T/A under it i'd love to have it handle better and not feel like its going to flip when i turn going faster then the speed of glacier4th problem, i'm having an odd brake problem, with the engine off and all the reserve vacuum depleated from the system i'll hit my brakes, when i do this it feels like a step and kinda spongy, about 1/3 of the way through pedal travel you'll feel kinda like a step, and the pedal will get firmer, about 2/3 of the way through you'll feel another step, and the pedal will get firmer again, i know it has ABS but the system is not in working order though, the ABS modulator is bad i think or its a faulty wheel sensor, but any one think that may have anything to do with it, and the brake light is on, i know the car needs rear brakes despretly, i'm still able to stop decently in it but winter is coming fast so i want to get all this done before it becomes too cold to work on any thing all help will be GREATLY appreaceated and i appoligize about cramming so much together i didn't want to piss any of the mods off by having too many posts up i hope its organized in such a way that its ledgible thanx for the time and the help, B-Rad

Re: a few odd problems
1. Your car has a 4L60 transmission (aka TH700R4). No 'E'. My guess is going to have something to do with the throttle valve cable adjustment. With the engine OFF, take the air cleaner off, and with a screwdriver, open the throttle all the way. You should hear some 'clicks', or more likely, the sound of stripping gears - this is the TV cable adjusting itself. This should cure the transmission issue, if it does not, then the transmission will need to be dealt with.
Remember, 1993 still used the mechanical shifting transmission, the electronic version (4L60E) debuted on the Caprice the following year (94). 2. Get it aligned! No way around that - you cannot determine the extent of your issue without an alignment rack. So, get'r'done! 3. Ditto 2 4. Sounds like a failing/failed master cylinder.
