$300 intercooler core from ZZP

I am interested in intercooling my car and found that core on ZZP.

What else do you need to buy in order to install that core, I am just assuming that for $300 everyone would have one so I am sure I must have to buy a crap load more.

But I would like you guys info on it.

Re: $300 intercooler core from ZZP

I'm not an expert on the intercooling process, but I'll give my 2cents based of what I've read...

First off, unless you're dropping pulley sizes, I wouldn't bother with an intercooler...You need a lot more with that core. I think you will need all the lines and the "radiator." You can get the short stack for 549 which I believe includes all intercooler accessories. On top of everything, I think you need to modify your existing fuel line system, something due to clearance issues?

Personally I don't think intercooling is worth it unless you plan on running high boost. You can get good low KR setups with cams...with cams and intercooler you can probably run under 3" pulley with no KR...but again...it depends how far you want to go. It seems the more power you add, the more it costs...almost exponentially.

Re: $300 intercooler core from ZZP

yeah, there is way more to buy instead of just the core. I was on zzp a few weeks ago and found a 1/2 intercooler with the complete install kit for 575.00 I think it was. Maybe check out that one.

Re: $300 intercooler core from ZZP

ditto highbeamz!

the exesting fuel rails will need to be cut and modified due to the extra space created by adding the core between LIM and supercharger. You can also get fuel injector spacers from zzp for between the fuel injector and rail so you dont have to cut your lines. Then you'll need longer injector wires.

Then to add an intercooler you'll need the radiator, lines, pump, coolant, and I think a PCM flash.

Just not worth it in my opinion. There are better ways to make more power at a better price. (high ratio rockers, PEM's, Camshafts)

Re: $300 intercooler core from ZZP

The stock exhaust system even with a bigger downpipe is a bottleneck and you will need intake mods. Headers are highly recommended. Although the power boost from a short stack IC is good not worth it in my opinion. I run a S ported M90 blower with a 3.0" SC pulley and the KR is not an issue. Power is adequate considering I can run mid 12s in 1/4 mile ET and drive it on the street which I very seldom do since my GTP is not my daily driver.
