Picked me up a winter beater. Car is clean a pin, runs great. Got almost 150k on the clock. An 01 Sephia 1.8L DOHC... Not familiar enough with these engines to know anything about them. Haven't researched enough yet.
Driving it last week and noticed after about 25 miles on the highway - ehh doing 55-60 stopped with some traffic. Took off and notice a bit of smoke from the rear. Didn't look close enough to see if blue or white, and it didn't last very long - by time I shifted into 3rd (its a stick) was all gone. Pulled off the road and turned around - went by a gas station and checked it over a bit. Oil was fine - it is about a quart low right now, temp gauge was showing normal, and still is. No leaks, no signs of bubbling in the radiator - no oil I can see in the coolant, nor any water signs on the dipstick... So far this hasn't happened again - haven't ever had a head gasket blow on a car before - so not sure this is what it could be. Talked to my next door neighbor he said "could be" but he wasn't sure either - he's sort of like myself, not the best mechanic in the neighborhood ![]() any ideas...toss them along. I was just taken back when I saw that - and the idle of the car is fine...still drives good, and no engine changes since this occurred... |

Re: Possible Headgasket prob?
If it's a head or gasket problem ti would show up pretty quickly.
Try a new pcv valve, they don't always get changed and can stick and suck a bit of oil. Good luck. |
