Fan Clutch

I have an '02 TB and the service engine light came on. I had the code read at an auto parts store and the code was for the fan clutch. I have done the checks as far as resistance and leaks and it appears to be okay. I had the water pump replaced. I have read about PCM codes having to be reset when replacing a fan clutch. Should the PCM codes be reset after the water pump installation? An after market clutch is around $250.00, Mr. Goodwrench wants $400.00 for the clutch and $400.00 for putting it in.

I wonder how the PCM senses the Fan Clutch?

Yes, but if it is Fan Clutch, isn't it Thermo based? how is it controled?

The electric fan clutch is PCM controled.
