idles stumbles, then falls flat on its face

ok my beast (1993 caprice classic 305 cid i know it has a leaking injector TBI i disconnect the wire harness that goes to the injector and it still drips fuel with the engine running but thats another subject my problem is that when i try to accellerate from a dead stop it moves bogs then seems like it forgot how to run then some times falls on its flat on its face like i have to floor it to keep it from dieing if it helps 210,000 miles

I am sorry, I have ADHD and as such I cannot make sense of a large, run-on sentence with improper grammar! Please try again!

Re: idles stumbles, then falls flat on its face

i replaced the leaking injector, fuilter, and adjsted the timing today. that has helped tremendously but the engine still cuts out from time to time but that only happnes on accelaration it doesn't stall but kicks like it wants to the problem is that it still kinda hesitates off of idle and if i give it too much throttle it misses and seems like it doesn't have all the power it should its still a little bit unresponsive no where lik it was but still enough to be annoying

check your cap and rotor might be fouled then go to plugs check them as well.

Also, check the idle air control solenoid (IAC) to make sure there's no carbon buildup on the pintle.

Re: idles stumbles, then falls flat on its face

ha ha i feel smart after replacing the fuel filter the bad injector and adjusting the timing i have no idea of how it became 10 degrees off before the adjustment, it still ran like shit after about 15 miles of driving and being pissed from all the work i did to it and it still runing like 27 different shades of ass i got home parked it and took a 3 hour nap to calm down i went out to go to the store fired it up and she runs like a completely diffrent car i can't belive all the power it has now and best of all NO BOG OFF OF IDLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm very pleased you have no idea i still have to replace the cap rotor and wires ohh and the exhaust flange gasket before i cook an exhaust valve (i'm not looking foward to that ordeal) but after all is said done its going to be a great car but thats kind of redundit it all ready is

Re: idles stumbles, then falls flat on its face

still has an odd problem though after the engine warms up it runs kinda rough when cold it runs like a beast, when warm and i floor it it accelerates like i was going normaly and it kinda sounds like a dead cylinder at that time it doesn't cut out or die it just lacks power i know i have to remove the plugs and clean them im thinking O2 sensor or ignition module

Re: idles stumbles, then falls flat on its face

i would look at the entire throttle system, tps, iac, etc. also look for any vacume leaks, and is there a check engine light on?

Re: idles stumbles, then falls flat on its face

no check engine light, ran the ECM and it came back clean, as for vacuum leaks, i just replaced all the lines one at a time this way i didn't accedently mix one up, i'm wondering if my EGR or the exhaust inlet port on the intake manifold may be clogged and causing this, it only acts like this after the engine warms up, when its cold its fine, im debating between EGR, O2 sensor, iginition problem (weak spark), or a combo of all the above

i'm probably going to end up rebuilding the distibutor, replacing the EGR valve, all the plugs, wires, cap and rotor

or just putting my money aside for the LS1 i'm loking at, that will be fun

Re: idles stumbles, then falls flat on its face

mine backfires/misses ALWAYS on my initial takeoff from cold, then kicks into power. BUT, when coming to a complete stop when cold, it shakes like crazy as if it's ready to stall, but, when i actually stop, calm as anything... odd, does the shake when letting off the brake lightly too...

can't figure out the darn thing...

I got no gauges or any tools to know how to check.
