Synthetic Trans Fluid. switch to or not.

I am getting ready to do a trans fluid and filter change on my 200R4 with 103000 miles on it.
I am not having any trans related problems but was just wondering if there would be any advantages in switching to a synthetic trans fluid with a trans this old?
Any input would be helpful.

I think doin' regular fluid / filter change does more good than anything. Synthetic won't hurt I'm sure, but probably isn't necessary, unless you keep the pedal on the floor.

I forgot about the trick shift, is that a synthetic?
I was thinking about the Royal Purp.
In the end, i will probably use the the regular stuff.
Thanks for the input.

Re: Synthetic Trans Fluid. switch to or not.

DEXRON VI is the latest fluid spec and it replaces all previous DEXRON fluids. There may still be some old DEXRON III sitting on the shelves.

Re: Synthetic Trans Fluid. switch to or not.

the b&m comes in synthetic and non. i used a 25% mix in my last caprice and it shifted real nice but as for synthetic tranny fluid if your gonna spend the money on it just get the royal purple it is a great name and fluids. i personally know the oil will give you 8 plus extra hp in the motor but for tranny idk. cant hurt to use thou

dexronVI is now the only transfluid that is available for a direct replacement for dexron III...this is a synthetic mix...

The other option that I took several years ago was to change over to the Mobil synthetic trans fluid...

results of that was faster shifting especially at 0 deg F....faster engagement forward to reverse.... greater roll going down grades on hywy..

slight MPG improvement..supposedly it reduces the trans temp...
