I recently purchased a used '08 Grand Caravan. I am attempting to program some new keys for it, but I seem to be running into an issue:
I follow the directions for entering customer programming mode, but the step where the security light is supposed to flash, and the system emit a chime doesn't happen correctly. I get the light flashing, but the chime doesn't sound. As soon as I turn the key to lock to put the new one in, the light stops flashing. Subsequently, the keys do not program, and I get the BAD KEY message. Has anyone programmed these, and if so, were there any other steps, other than what the manual indicated. I've tried with the door both opened and closed, and with the seatbelt done and undone. Does anyone have any insight into this? Am I missing something, or do I need to take it in for warranty. I know the chime works, because I changed the mode of "automatic door unlock", and got a chime when I entered progamming mode for that. Thanks for any help!!! Mike |
