No spark
Hi everyone, i have a 98 buick regal with 115,256miles. i was driving yesterday fine got to a stop light noticed my rpm needle went from 1 to 2 and the car kinda sputtered and turned off and wont start. Got it home checked the gas pressure everything is ok there, when i got to the sparkplugs i have no spark. took off the icm cleaned it off put it back on started up, but sputtering real bad.reved it up a little then it stopped,tried turning it on this morning and no spark again what is going on

Sounds like your ICM took a dump, of course it could be the CKPS, or wiring in between. Get your ICM tested first, that is a good start.

where can i take it to get tested, also i just removed the plug wires from 1n4 on the distributor cap, and cranked it and its sparking now. but still no start im lost...

Have you got spark on all six? You can have the ICM tested at any national auto parts store. How about the fuel pump, is it running when you first turn the ignition on? Have you checked fuel pressure?

The fuel pump is running ,the fuel pressure seems good. I will check the rest of the distributor caps..

Pull one of the plugs, and use it for a spark tester on all six. Look for bright blue spark. Never pull the wires off of the coils; that energy has to go somewhere and it usually fires into the ICM which can cause permanent damage!

ok got the car started got good sparks, but know it stays idle at 1500rpm and 2000rpms it wont go down. Theres a part next to the mass air flow sensor that if i move it the idle goes down then up, but i dont know the parts name i will see if i can put a pic...

That is your idle air control (IAC) and how did you move it while it was installed & the engine running?

What i did was move the harness, and it would want to turn off. so i took it off cleaned the iac tried to push it down nothing tried to pull it out nothing, so all my problems ended with those two parts lol . thanks for all the help
