coolant leak water outlet

I have a 98 sunfire with the 2.4L engine

there was a leak at the water outlet of the engine so I replaced the water outlet, the old one crumbled in my hand upon removal.

there is still a leak though, im pretty sure it leaks from the smaller outlet which i presume goes to the heater (not the hard line on top). Whats this hoes called as it looks kinda wierd looks like a 4 way house. can I pick this up from like autozone or is it special order?

I dont see any noticble cracks in the hose either so am i missing something here

Not sure whatcha mean by 4-way hose there turbo...

You referrin to a 'T' in the line?

I'd guess turbo's refering to the upper and lower heater hoses which are held together by molded plastic. (4 ends on one 'piece'?)

If you re-used the spring style hose clamps, replace them with the screw style ones and see if that doesn't fix the leak. I think one of the hoses is different diameters on each end, so if it is the hose and not just a loose spring clamp, you nay have to get it from the dealer.

Pontiac had a very bad design with their water outlets.they dont seal good.i put a threaded connector in the place of the push in overflow tube and ran a clamped hose off it to the overflow. i used a threaded hose connector.got it started in the hole and screwed it in tight.remove the old push in tube,cut the line and run a rubber hose from the threaded water outlet to the remaining metal tube.i also used a common flat chevy gasket,pt # felpro 35062.it fits good and the bolt holes line up.i applied permatex # 2 to both sides of it.mine is sealing great with no problems.i dont know why they didnt use this design to start with.

I am sure you fixed it by now. However, for those of you that have this problem, it is probably the rubber washer inside the water outlet that is no seating well. Replace the washer and then determine where the leak is. If it is still leaking, it could probably be the plastic hose (under the metal hose on the back side) becoming worn and not properly inserted. Either replace the hose or move it further down the water outlet where there is a lip. This will make it a tighter connection and hopefully seal your leak.
