Headlight Oxidation

If you notice your headlights are looking cloudy and yellow you better start working on them.. If you wait too long the harder it will be to work with.. There is this stuff called PlastX By Meguire's I used today that works really well.. Not to say it does take a lot of time and elbow grease.. I think really its a mild rubbing compound for plastic.. It did help quite a bit though.. I have done some research and some have used wet sanding to get rid of this. But from what I have heard it removes the protective coating on the headlight and causes it to start oxidation faster.. So I tried this product and it worked well for helping it with clarity.. Its worth trying at least.. But don't wait too long or you will work your but off to get rid of it or spend money replacing them... Mine were not real bad but it still took time for me to get them were I was happy.. Clarity improved greatly.. I guess I spent about 40 min working with it.. Applying it, rubbing with a wax sponge and buffing it off with a terry cloth towel. Repeated a number of times over and over.. I also used it on my bumper covers. So far so good.. But i will reply back with results on that later..

Re: Headlight Oxidation

I have used these similar procedures from other forums on my 1999 Windstar headlight lens with great success:
