New wheels.. New bolt pattern?
I wanted to get some new wheels something black and was thinking about some cragars not sure which size yet cause im going to go with a disc brake conversion and bigger brakes
Now I believe the bolt pattern on my 87 is 5 x 4.75 in. But I was planing on getting a rear axle from an impala for the 8.5 10bolt. But the pattern for those rears are 5x5 correct? Is it possible to actually change my front bolt pattern to a 5x5 too, to match the rear besides wheel adapters, I will not use those at all. I dont think I have ever heard of anyone actually changing their bolt pattern though so I had to ask. |

Re: New wheels.. New bolt pattern?
I haven't done it personally, but you can get the left and right front hub assemblies from any B-body GM car that has the 5 x 5 bolt pattern. All older GM station wagons came this way so if you find one of them in a bone yard your set. Be sure to replace the wheel bearings and brake assemblies as sitting in a yard isn't exactly the best thing for them.

Re: New wheels.. New bolt pattern?
You can get the rotors/hubs/steering knuckles from the same car you get the rear axle from. This is what I would suggest as the whale body cars have metric studs (12mm) while the boxies have SAE studs (1/2"). Keep the car the same.

Re: New wheels.. New bolt pattern?
Thanks, I was hoping to hear something like that. Having two different bolt patterns would suck.
