Lightbulb 2003 jetta temp gauge

just noticed yesterday that gauge runs cold, then jumps to normal, and back to cold...assuming this is sensor? assuming this is in the low dollar range? easy to replace?

any confirmation/suggestions would be helpful before i go buying stuff i don't need to buy

Re: 2003 jetta temp gauge

very common issue for the coolant temp sensor to fail. there about 25.00 with a new o-ring. Dont forget the vw coolant also.
