heated seat problem on 2000

Hi

I've done some reading on a no heat issue on the driver side seat. I've read all the threads available on this one and I definitely have the seat element issue, everything else is working. power to the switch, relay has been swaped and still no heat. has anyone ever tackled this one?

thanks

If you are certain power is getting all the way to the heating element (check the connections under the back side of the seat for power) then you are probably up a creek.
The heater is sewn into the seat cover, very hard to remove. Some people have just purchased aftermarket seat heaters and put them under the seat cover due to the difficulty of taking out the OEM heaters.

Re: heated seat problem on 2000

thanks Iflylow

I was wondering if I was the only one with this issue. I can feel the relay click when I throw the seat switch, but I will definitely throw a meter on it tonight. relay definetly does the same thing the passenger side does but when I click the passenger side heat on I notice the draw. No draw when driver side is switched. Any procedures anywhere on how to install an aftermarket heater?

thanks again

If you remove the seat cover you may be able to repair the heater...could be wires running from heat pad..in seat..

I've removed all my vehicles seat covers and installed extra seat fiber for better comfort..

This link doesn't exactly tell how to install a new heater, but it has some good info on the problem, and some good pics of it.

You may be able to solder the connections like this guy did, and get it working again.

Re: heated seat problem on 2000

Hey guys thanks agin for the info. I'm tearing into this thing this weekend. I have a quick question as for pulling the seat, just disconnect all electrical connectors, or should I do something special since there is an air bag in the seat?

thanks again

obviously remove the electrical connections...have some cushion stuffing material handy and then remove seat or break it down in place...

Re: heated seat problem on 2000

Just cuz this topic is the perfect place to ask w/o making a new thread.... Do they make any universal kits that would fit in the back seats of cars? Even if it's only on the bottom Cushion... I get stuck in the back seat of my own car pretty often and would LOVE to have em back there...

I never seen any but they have 12volt seat warmers/massagers for auto and home use...I have one and after the blizzard snow removal I get into my chair with the heat/massager going...
