Re: 8.1l 1500?
I'd do a 6.0L (much better mid and top end power) swap, unless you are planning on towing something very heavy lots. The tranny and rear diff of the 1500 would grenade pretty quickly with the monster low end torque of the 8.1L. Even the power of the 6L will put lots of stress on the drivetrain components, but would be manageable with small upgrades. the 1500SS has a upgraded tranny (4L65E) over the standard 1500 (4L60E). If you decide to do the 8.1 I would def. upgrade to a 4L80E or a well built 4L60. If Im correct the 6.0L is almost a drop in replacement.

Re: 8.1l 1500?
awesome thanks, so would my wiring harness and comp and all the electrical bs need to be changed? iam not short of money but dont have much to spare on this, i have to do big things over time, so i wanna save were i can. i was thinkin of goin ot a junkyard or womthin and find a wrecked 2500/3500 with this engine in it, could i just grab it and throw it in pretty much then? like what would i need to grab off of it?
