Horrible gas mileage... Any ideas...

My cars getting about 30 MPG... I know that that is good, but I was getting close to 40 before I did a ton of maintenace to my car...

I did the following:
Change brakes
Change Distributer cap and Rotor
Change Spark Plugs
Change Oil
Change Timing Belt/Water Pump
Change PCV Valve
Change Air Filter

New Thermostat and Radiator
New Oil pan gasket
New Valve Cover Gasket

Not sure why my car dropped so much in gas mileage

Any ideas? I'm going to replace the clutch in a week cause the car is slipping a bit (was before) and hoping this will help, but I'm stumped on why it decreased so much.. .

I probably shouldn't have done so much maintenace at once... LOL

I wish mine was getting 30 mpg, I'm lucky if I hit 28, most of the time its 25.

Check to see if your IAT and O2 Sensor are still good. You should get a CEL from them, but that doesn't always mean anything if you don't.

Also the new brakes may need to wear in. Brakes can actually lose you horsepower and cause drag till they are good and worn.

Re: Horrible gas mileage... Any ideas...

I forgot to mention. I did replace the O2 sensor as well. I wasn't throwing a code, but I figured since the car has 202,000 miles on it to replace it since it was stock...

I just filled up today and got 33.8 MPG... Perhaps some things need to be worn in...

I'm going to triple check my exhaust cause I know I have a leak (well I have had one for quite some time)...

Will replace Clutch this Sunday and get all the Exhaust Leaks fixed then I should be good for a while hopefully...

I was getting close to 40 though so I I will give it another fill-up and see what happens unless there is anything else....
