Unhappy Climate control whacked after sparks while inspecting CD player. Help!!!

So before I get into this, I know, I know, I am an idiot. I recently bought a new car and I was taking the stereo system out of my car before I gave it to my g/f. I got everything out but when I put everything back together, my Pioneer CD player was not getting power. I then pulled it back out and took out my installation guide with the wiring scheme. I saw what I thought was my problem where the yellow constant power wire had nothing connected to it in it's wire nut. I found it's match and realized that I needed to connect them. Before I got a chance, that wire touched something, probably metal, and there was a small flare of sparks. So yes, I am an idiot, I should have disconnected the battery first. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess. So the car still starts, I have power to everything, but the climate control display will not respond to any button that I press. It still has some extent of power because there are two parts of the display that are lit up. The vertical indicator of how how hard to fan is blowing has 2 lines near the top that are lit. Also, the temperature reading shows the negative sign and the number "1" as if it were in the 100's. That's all it will show and it will not respond to any button pressed. Everything else electrical on my car seems to be fine: door locks, mirrors, lights, seats. I totally disconnected the battery and let it sit for a couple minutes to try to maybe reset any computers, but that didn't do anything for me. So what should I brace myself for and is there anything I can do on my own? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: Climate control whacked after sparks while inspecting CD player. Help!!!

So I went disconnected my battery and reconnected and crimped my power wire for my stereo. I also bought one of those light bulb tester things and checked my fuses. I found one that controled battery/AC/cluster to be blown. THANK GOD! I replaced the fuse and everything worked fine again. Moral of the story = unplug your battery before installing/uninstalling a system. Also, be wary of Best Buy stereo installation jobs....
