steering problem

2003 chevy impala 3.4..... when i turn my wheel right when im turning a corner at more than 5mph. i hear a pop sound coming from the front passenger side... it only makes one pop sounds like i run over something and it pops up and hit my car. when im not moving and i turn the wheel i doesnt do nothing.... i looked underneath and find nothing wrong.... i need help.... what could it be....

poping noises at slow speeds and wheels turned means cv joints ...most likely boots are torn now joints lack grease...check for grease leakage...

Look at the CV boots from both the top (not sure if you can see them from the engine compartment but should be able to if you get the angle) and from under the car. You may need to turn the wheel to get a good look at the crevices inside the boot. You are looking for crakcs / tears. If you have one, you will want to get it fixed before you kill the axle.

Steering problems sucks. Hate to have to put on new handlebars...

A single 'pop' is probably a suspension gig, not steering link I don't think, cause you don't get it when you turn it sittin' still.
