1999 Sierra 1500 V6 Charging Probs
Battery light has been coming on intermittently and battery drains. Just replaced alternator, idler pulley, tension pulley, serpentine belt and battery. I also cleaned the ground point of grease. Ran truck yesterday during daylight after changes and charged fine. Ran truck to work this morning with lights on and drained battery, again. Odd thing is, when I turn left, battery light goes off and it charges...if I turn right, battery light comes on and it drains. Any ideas, other than always going left.

Left turn, right turn, huh?
What happens when sitting still, and you just turn the wheel? If it doesn't happen then (I imagine not, but check anyway), something is loose, and making contact in the turn, or getting pulled OUT OF contact, as you put sideways G's on the vehicle. |

Thanks, Cbec. The battery light, of course, is on all the time now (when not turning left, lol). It almost acts like a loose battery cable, but they are tight. Guess my next chore is to start following all the wires.

Re: 1999 Sierra 1500 V6 Charging Probs
sounds like the wire coming off the voltage regulator is grounded. Check that wire to ground and I bet you find your problem

Re: 1999 Sierra 1500 V6 Charging Probs
Thanks, gang. Indeed, Calvinator, it was that particular wire. I never found where it was grounding, but, by tugging on it, I either tightened the loose connection or separated it from whatever it was grounding on. I kept thinking I would break it, but just managed to make it start charging, lol. I will find the problem with it when I have more time. Thanks, again.
