Re: 97 grand am
It's a PITA, but do-able. I had to take off the coils, air hose, and a few other smaller wires around the rear of the engine to get to mine. I have large hands though, so it may be possible to do without removing all of it. Once you can get to the plugs, it's all done by feel. Just be careful when removing the wires - one of mine ripped off the plug and it wasn't fun.

Re: 97 grand am
It turns out that I did find the hole, but what happen was that when the old pug was forced out it messed up the thread so that a new one wil not screw in. Does anybody know how to rethread the hoe.

Re: 97 grand am
Tap and dye kit should work to re thread the hole. They are insanely expensive though.

Re: 97 grand am
Welcome to AF colemandon !
Sounds like trouble... If its stripped you have to thread it larger and put in a helicoil. The head will probly need pulled. Unless someone can do it on the car(real pita), you do risk getting metal shavings into the cylinder though and contaminating your oil/engine. Make sure its not just the first thread or two I;ve seen this happen and you usualy can get one in if at the proper angle. Just look at how the front head is with the plugs at an angle. A mirror and light may help see back there. Good Luck !
