Ok I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and Im getting ready to put the Quick Swap 3.4 Pulley on. How do I ge the old one off? I have a pulley puller but didnt know if it was the same pulley puller for misc and all other cars to the SC Pulley Puller. I bought the bolt-on Pulley that came with the 3.8 and 3.4 pulley. Also I lost the instructions to the new pulleys. By the way what all mods do you have to have to put the 3.4 pulley on? Im just curious! Because I did a custom cold air intake and the exhaust has been redone recently wit 3" Pipe, U bend Delete, and Flow Master muffer's, and new plugs wires, plugs, ignition coil packs, ignition control module, new oil & oil filter, have and always will use premium gas. I dont know if half the stuff I mentioned had any relevance with the smaller pulley but thought to add it in.

The cold air intake and exhaust work will help you out a lot (pending the intake is actually effective). I suggest changing out your plugs for Autolite 104's (2 heat ranges colder), a 180* thermostat and an aftermarket PCM. Those would pretty much be the minimum. A few extras could be front powerlog (ported exhaust manifold), throttle body/spacer, maybe some 1.8 or 1.9 ratio rocker arms...that'll almost definitely get you in the 0* knock range.

I know alot of people on all forums including ZZP will tell you that you need a PCM and other supporting mods, but when I put mine on I didnt have a PCM at the time and I ran it like that for 2 years and never had an issue(4degree KR) so do what you want, Most of the guys here want you to do it the safest way possible and will tell you to get other mods but I ran mine for 2 years without some of my mods and one of my buddies ran his for a long time to with no PCM and neither of us had any isssues.
To be safe if you do install the 3.4 try to get the PCM ASAP cuz it make a huge difference,Its was a great Mod when I installed mine, the shifting was awesome. the 180 t-stat you can get at Autozone and will cost you like $8 and takes 10min to install. the plugs are a pain but eventually you should get those too. But its you car man do as you please, but installing a 3.4 without a PCM will not blow up your motor. Dont waste your money on a TB spacer they dont do crap and you will waste your money.

Ok I wish I would of read the replys to my post before attempting to put on the new Quick Swap Pulley! I tried using a regular pulley puller on the stock pulley and ended up striping out the threads for the bolt. So, I have to rethread it. Ne ways I checked into the SC Pulley Puller from SLP Performance, I dont have a way to rent it because I have no checking account or credit card and everyone I know wont let me use theres because they are skeptical on the return charge. Which I assured them they would get there money back. But ne ways to make a long story short, Im just going to make one exactly like the one that you can rent. I have everything I need to make it. Ne ways as far as mods go, I noticed someone put in I needed Autolite 104's which I did state in my first blog that I have new spark plugs in it. But yes I do have that along with the aftermarket PCM. Including all the other mods that I listed previously. But thanks for the responses. Im sure glad this website is around.

When you just said "plugs" I assumed you meant something OEM based...
And to the poster who claimed you can get away with less...it's true. You can run a 3.4 pulley on a stock motor. Will it last? Maybe. Will your KR be high? Maybe. One supercharged engine is not like another supercharged engine...each one is a little different, plus where you live and what gas you fill it with makes a difference. Personally, I have a CAI, 2.5" catted downpipe with U-bend Delete and an Intense PCM and I still see up to 3* KR stock in second gear. Some guys with mods like mine have none. I plan to do rocker arms, throttle body and spacer as well as a front powerlog so when I install my 3.4 pulley I should be seeing little to no KR. That's just me though...I prefer assurance, but a lot of the time you can get away with less.

I understand what you guys are saying, But if your concern is the well being of your car then why mod at all?
I was just stating the fact that you can run a 3.4 on little mods, its not always going to mess up your motor. But your right Highbeams all of our cars are a little different, Up here its common to find 93 octane at most all gas stations and I know in some states the highest you find is 91. But I think there is risk in any mod you do and as we all mod our cars more and more we understand that with producing more power you are increasing the fact that something could happen, But I also think if someone is that worried about their D/D then whats the point of modding at all? Just leave it stock.

I'm not worried about mine at all. Fact is I bought the 3.5" press on with a colder stat and plugs first thinking I would never buy anything else. Fact is I then just HAD to get a DP and a PCM, I just couldn't resist. If I were to do it all over I would have gotten the PCM and DP first and went with a quickchange with a 3.8" and a 3.4".
In my area 93 octane is unheard of, 92 is pretty rare, and 91 is about the highest anyone can get. Plus elevation, temp, and driving habits all affect KR. I just think its better to be safe than sorry.

Also consider the fact that running a 3.4 pulley on an insufficiently modded motor also leads to power loss due to knock retard, hence limiting the potential power gain, possibly to the point of where the extra boost may not be beneficial.
At 2hp lost to 1* of KR, if you ended up with 12* of KR, you'd end up with a motor with no more power than stock and a lot more knock. The reason I like 0* KR myself is assurance. Knock is known to chip pistons, if there is no knock, the chance of that is pretty much eliminated.
