1993 F150 Ext. cab brake lines?

i got a 1993(4.9L) f150 ext. cab. to day i just blew a brake line in the rear just before the metal line goes into the rubber line. i was going to go to store and buy a little section and take out bad section and put ne piece into it. in the long run would i be better off buying the pre-bent lines for $219.00 out of the LMC truck catalog. my other lines are pretty rusty. is it hard to replace the lines? would i have to take off gas takes for easy access?

Re: 1993 F150 Ext. cab brake lines?

You`re going to have one headache after the other if you start patching those rusty lines. You can snake new lines down the frame rail fairly easily. Pre measure and get long pieces and couplers to put them together with. Don`t worry about getting it the exact length, coil any excess in a 3 or 4" loop at the rear, or make an s bend. Split some 5/16 or 3/8 rubber line and slip over it to prevent something rubbing on the line itself. Put a vinyl or rubber vacuum cap over the end before pushing it through to keep dirt from getting in it and to keep the nut from sliding back. You can usually reach in in a few places and secure it to the old line or standoffs with tie wraps
