bronco2 alignment problem!

I have an 88 bronco 2! when i got it i noticed it was pulling to the left. after a got it out on the road irealized that if you turn left then go straight it pulls left. if you turn right then go straight it pulls right! I check the suspention over and found the passenger side radius arm braket was rotten! i've replaced that. but it did not fix the problem! all the tie rods feal tite! although if i twist them they feel like they bind a little! does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Make sure the steering box is bolted down securely. Chevy 4x4 used to pull out of the frame and I had to send them to a body shop who welded the frame and added more metal.

Re: bronco2 alignment problem!

Steering gear is adjusted too tight. Back off the adjusting nut on the sector shaft and turn it counterclockwise until if frees up, then readjust backing off 1/2 turn after it connects with the gear. It is real easy to accidentally adjust them too tight while trying to get rid of play in the system.

Re: bronco2 alignment problem!

What you're experiencing is called "memory steer". It can be caused by the gearbox being adjusted too tightly as suggested, or a host of other issues. This website explains, Scroll down to "Memory Steer". http://www.aa1car.com/library/steerpul.htm

Hope this helps.
