B16a1 vs. B16a2

B16a1 vs B16a2

Im thinking about building up a engine... i have found jdm b16a1 long blocks for as low as 600$ i will worry about the transmission and stuff later on. What is different on a B16a1 from a B16a2, i know they had different transmissions, but would a newer B transmission bolt right on? is there any big disadvantages to the b16a1?

Kyle

the b16a1 is obd 0 160hp
the jdm b16a2 is obd 1 170hp
the usdm b16a2 is obd 2 160hp
there also the usdm b16a3 obd 1 160hp, del sol vtec motor

since u have a 95 integra, idk what is taht a obd 1 car. well i would get an engine that is the same obd as your car so you dont gotta deal with the wiring.

yes the newer b series tranny will bolt right up. the b16a1 is a cable tranny. yoru car is a hydro tranny

why would you want to put a b16 block in your car? put the b16 head on your b18 block and have a lsvtec, probably would be cheaper that way too, what exactly are you trying to do?

i didn't think jdm honda engines had #'s after the call sign.
ie usdm b18c5(type -r) as opposed to jdm b18c.
keep in mind i'm a nissan guy so i may be mis-informed

ok the b18c3 and c5 are type r motors, idk how much hp the type r puts out
the b18c1 is a usdm gsr 170hp
the b18c2 and c4 are jdm gsr motors. the power in these is in betweent the type r and usdm gsr, so about 180hp

the jdm engiens dont come with a number after b18c, so u can get any b18c and u wont know it, but if its jdm and not a type r then u got either a b18c2 or c4, both are suppose to be same hp. if u do got a type r then its either the c3 or c5. and the c1 is a usdm motor

Not even close,B18C4 is from the 96+ EDM civic VTi 1.8.
The The B18C6 is the EDM typr R teg motor.
The B18C5 is the USDM type R
The JDM motors don't have numerical designations so the JDM type R is just B18C and it is called the B18C R to distingush it from the B18C GS-R
The B18C1 is the USDM GSR
The B18C7 is the Australian type R I believe.
