Re: 2001 s10 crew cab
You need to get the leak fixed first.
Is the line nut tighting up good? If the line going into master cylinder and it is tight and still leaking it is a bad line flare or crack or the fitting in master cylinder. On ABS brakes if you let air get into the ABS part it requires a ABS capable scanner to bleed them. Let us know how it goes after leak fixes. Good Luck

Re: 2001 s10 crew cab
hey thanks fer responding...yes leak is fixed... i think it was in the master ...because got another replacement master n leak is fixed...but same prolem with spongee brakes...truck off brakes seem hard n fine ,,,start it n brakes go to floor...does stop n have holding power ,,but far from right...ive bled 1/2 qt fuild thru it (bleedin all calipers) no luck..also jus pulled to look if can adjust pushrod n its molded plastic...so must have air...there is no way for a backwoods to get air out of a abs??? or any other thoughts be preciated.

Not that I know of. If ABS HAS GOT AIR IT REQUIRES THE SCANNER TO BLEED THEM. Try holding down brake pedal and turning key on before and open the bleeders. Give them another bleed and that does not help find a good repair shop with the scanner to bleed them for you. Good Luck

But it may activate ABS brakes to help bleed them. Yes on each wheel. If no help you will need to find a good repair shop eith the ABS scanner. Good Luck

It is normal for pedal to go down and feel softer when the power booster is working. When pushing hard on pedal. Will they lock up and slide all 4 wheels when stopping on dry payment. Does it have a full pedal with engine off? How far does pedal go down after starting engine? Will pedal pump up engine running? Does anti lock work on wet or road? I always test anti on a a grass field

Re: 2001 s10 crew cab
hey mt..as for booster creatin softer yes,,thats what its for correct,,but they dont go down farther due to pushin harder ,,they jus go down after start truck...yes feels like full pedal enigine off..but start it n hteyll drop to floor with out alot of foot pressure..
ive hit them purty hard,,n seemed to stop like normal (jus low pedal) but havent locked em up or tried anti locks (will do so today) and pedal will nawt pump up engine runnin...this is whats so hard to understand..to recant ,,,truck was sittun bout a month ..drove to werk 3 miles..n hot (stuck left rear cal.) no fixing it ,so i replaced it n bled it (solved the sitcking cal.) but then had no pedal ...so new master ..couldnt get it to pump up .but had a lil leak in rear brake line...so replaced with yet another master , no leak now but same..so to me the key is 3 master cyls. have all had same symptoms...brakes seem to werk jus to close to floor (like i gained 3'' of travel) but keep in mind original did same..thus my prolem of aw cheeyut what did i do???am nawt up on anti lock at all..sarry so long..n do preciate the help thanks paps |

Some have a low pedal but the stopping power is the main thing. Will they lock up the wheels on a hard stop?
