P0102 code 99 F150

Got a code P0102.

No real problems with the truck... but it failed the e-test.

We did an oil change, replaced air filter (Which was REALLY dirty).
Checked the P0102.. when looking around under the hood, we found the little connector box that connects under the air filter (I think to the MAF) was disconnected.

We connected this, and reset the code. The CEL has not come back on yet.

Would this disconnection cause the e-test failure?

My results on the e-test were:
HC ppm limit 76, our reading 315
CO%m limit 0.42, our reading 10.33
This is on the ASM 2525 part of the testing.. everything else was ok & passes.

please help, we need to get this to pass e-test and renew plate sticker ASAP!!
Thanks!!

Re: P0102 code 99 F150

None of the part stores in our part of Ontario do the free code readings.

We called em all.
Anywhere that does read the codes charges a minimum of $80 for "diagnostics".

We bought a code reader, and therefore know it was the P0102... and have scanned it since, with no codes showing up now.

Just looking to find out of if this disconnection would have caused the etest failure.

Thanks!

Re: P0102 code 99 F150

On some cars a leaking vacuum hose will cause you to fail, that unhooked sensor probably left the engine computer very confused about something and flooded your cylinders with more gas than they should have, I would take it in for the emissions testing again and see how it does.

Something you may be able to do is find a local college that teaches automotive and see if they will let you bring your truck in for live experience for the students and have them test your truck and see how well it is doing.
