Keyless entry on ALL 99's...are you sure???

Someone posted awhile back that all 99 Intrigues had keyless entry. Well, after buying the car and only getting 1 key and no fob, I got a pair of keys made and ordered a keyless remote. Got the programing instructions and it doesn't work. After being VERY careful to follow the directions, I never get ANY tones after letting go of the lock switch... I am VERY capable of following the instructions, I have built automobile engines for years as a hobby and do custom paint and bodywork for a living... but something here isn't right. Tried it with the original key and both new ones just to be sure. Get in, close doors, hold switch to unlock and put key into ignition 3 times and release switch (per instuctions I got with keyless fob)... nothing. Also tried it by putting key in and turning to run first, THEN doing the steps, no chimes. Tried going on and holding keyless buttons for 12 seconds...nothing. HELP! Thanks in advance!

Re: Keyless entry on ALL 99's...are you sure???

Used, factory. It was advertised for our car, 99 Olds intrigue. I also specified what vehicle it was for. They claim new batteries are installed and they are tested before being shipped. Regardless, even if it WAS the wrong remote, wouldn't the proceedure get the same results from the car BEFORE reaching the re-program steps? I would think the car/computer wouldn't know if you even had a fob when you start the programming... as stated, I never got ANY chimes, whistles, bells, etc. I just know its (I'M) driving my wife crazy!!!

Re: Keyless entry on ALL 99's...are you sure???

Here are directions I found online: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you...obile_Intrigue

I can post later tonight what I find in the owner's manual. I could never get one of my fobs to work with my car. Bought used and the 2nd fob did not work. Tried new battery and re-programming. Nothing.

If I had your VIN, I could tell you what your car came with.....

I just tried to program a spare fob via the link above and it worked. You may not have the correct fob or you are not following the procedure as above.

Re: Keyless entry on ALL 99's...are you sure???

my Dad has a 99 and his never came with the keyless FOBs.

I have it with my 2000. However his car has the automatic gas door lock/opened and pull-down rear seat that my car doesn't have.

The keyless entry and truck opener are great and I barely ever use my key to open the door.

Re: Keyless entry on ALL 99's...are you sure???

If you have bought your Intrigue used and if it did not come with a FOB that does not mean it did not come with one when new. I worked at a dealer and many cars that came in on a trade did not come with fobs many of the fobs were not returned with the cars or workers stole them to make extra cash. Look at the options list for your car and that is the best way knowing what options your car came with. I will bet you that keyless entry would have been a standard offerening for all Intrigues

Re: Keyless entry on ALL 99's...are you sure???

Keyless remote entry was an option on the 1999 GX models. There is a chance your Intriuge did not come with keyless remote entry. I would take brcidd's offer about checking your VIN.

Re: Keyless entry on ALL 99's...are you sure???

In my shop I've done a lot of keyless entry installs for dealerships on these cars when they were new. So, to answer your question, no, not all of them came with keyless entry.
