Transmission issue...

Hello, I just had an heavy problem with my 2002 tlz trailbazer. Driving on a motorway, 90 mph, transmission selctor stuck on 2wd, the car put in 4wd by itself and was blinking to go to the 4wd lo!! What kind of a problem is it? Electronics?? I stopped on the right, played a bit with transmission selector and now it's fine, or at least, it seems fine.
Thank you

Re: Transmission issue...

Engine /transmission /transfer case/mileage and service history would help?

Good time to get it on a transmission/trannfer case/engine capable scanner and check for codes past or present or history or pending.
Post back code no.

Before you spend too much money, replace the selector.
It might have bad contacts and cause the problem (especially when th eproblem was resolved after turning the switch)

Proper testing before throwing parts at it.

Re: Transmission issue...

I just went to a Chevy dealer here in Italy where I live and they did a check up without finding any error code. They replaced the transmission selector on the cluster, for now car is running ok but the defect does not come so often.. Let's wait then! To me it looks more like an electronic control issue, a stupid selector does't go crazy like this. I mean, it has inside just a few steel contacts inside, how can they comunicate a wrong command? The led indicating the selection was telling the truth, the car was really running in 4wd, I felt it.
Another quest, I just left a great '95 v8 grand cherokee for this chevy. Was it a good shot or did I fall in a problematic car??
Thanks

Re: Transmission issue...

The dash selector switch for the 4wd was problematic in 2002-2003, many were replaced for the decribed condition, including mine.
