Engine codes advice Alero

I have a 2000 Alero with the 2.4 engine. The Traction control light has twice come on while driving(Note Service engine soon light has not) Checking codes brought up slow O2 sensor response Bank one. I replaced the O2 sensor and erased the codes. 2 weeks later(about 100 miles or so) the Trac control light came on again. Same code reading . Any ideas? A mechanic told me that the traction control is very sensitive to engine performance issues and that is why that light came on instead of the check engine light. Car runs well, no drivability problems. Thanks for any help

Re: Engine codes advice

Your traction control has nothing to do with the O2 sensor DTC.

Does the trac control light come on and stay on or does it just flicker ???

You need an ABS capable scan tool to read the codes the traction control would spit out. Probly a bad wheel hub/bearing unit which is typical N body problems. Wont know which one realy without the ABS scan tool.

Good Luck

Re: Engine codes advice

Traction control light comes on and stays until codes are erased. Then works as normal until problem returns. I have used two different Actron scan tools to check this, one is fairly comprensive. Under all reading settings the only code that shows up either under engine or trans is the O2 sensor bank one slow response. The newer tool adds intermitant as well. I will see if I can locare a tool that will check for ABS probs but may end up taking it to a repair shop if I have too. Thanks.
