speed sensor 90 lumnia

I have a 90 lumnia the speedometer quit today
research says the speed sensor went bad
autozone says it is onthe trans
the repair manual says on the trans
I looked ok where on the trans is it

Already looked up the part
needing to know where i need to look do i need to remove the air filter and or any other part to see the unit
i have three lumina's in the yard for parts

The sensor is on the rear passenger side of the transaxle, just above where the passenger side axle shaft connects. It should have a 2-wire connector.

Make sure you check the electrical connections as a lot of people grab the wires and pull to disconnect.

thanks for the help
I found the speed sensor and replaced it
Still no speedometer
checked the wires and also checked for codes
no problems found
The wife would realy like to know just how fast i am driving (lol)

You should get it scanned and see if the pcm is recieving a sensor signal, if so and the speedo is inop it is either in the head or wiring from the pcm to the cluster.
