92 3.1 mpi misses

hello everyone. I'm new to this group and have a few questions. I bought this car for $200. It had been sitting for 4 years. I cleaned the engine compartment out acorns and all. sprayed ether in the intake and charged the battery up. It started up but ran rough but drove it home ten miles maybe. It tried to die on me in the last mile but I got it home.
now for the list of items in the trunk; intake plenum, fuel rail with some injectors attached, power steering pump, timing chain cover with water pump attached, tensioner and miscellaneous bolts and nuts. previous owner did something to it but I don't know what. What I have done: new plugs, wires, timing chain and gears (changed useing Haynes, always buy them) timing chain was streched about 1/2 to 3/4of play. ,oil, antifreeze, fuel filter air filter with the mouse nest in place. Before changing the timing chain and gears I drove it about 2 miles and it stalled at the first stop sign then did it again at the next stop light. Got it restarted and drove it back home. Now for the problem with it; it has a noise like it is a lifter(s) or manifold or injector(s) in the back of the engine.(thats why I changed the timing chain and gears) It is difficult to start when cold but after several times of cranking it will catch and that is when I play with the pedal until it can get to the point where it will idle on its own. Do the injectors do that ticking noise if they are'nt working right? Check engine light doesn't come on, just at the beginning on initial start-up. vacuum lines are okay. Okay now I leave it to you all to figure it out. I only have about $400 invested it so a couple more hundred should get it right I hope.

if you had mice nest i'd look at wires real good as the squrals and mice love to eat them? and i'd pull gas line of and see if it's pumping or push on the top where you check it with guage but if you push on that it's got a cap on it take cap off push valve thant looks like a tire core. if it comes out strong then maybe not fuel pump. really i'd get it check with guage tho.

Haven't been working on this car for a while. Just now checked the fuel pressure and it is somewhere between 10-20 psi. Wires aren't chewed up.
