Re: get her going past 2nd gear

Greetings-

I own a 96 LX and I had a similiar problem as well. This week I took the battey out to clean my terminals and when I hooked it back up my transmission was performing most horrifically. I found out that my fluid levels were real low and I added some fluid and it worked like it did before. I don't know why it took taking the battery out for that to register-maybe it reset the computer and it realized how low it was. If your tranny is old and worn out like mine it's going to be real sensitive to the smallest things. I could be completely wrong. It's just what worked for me.

Re: get her going past 2nd gear

Sorry I can't help you as I'm not up on the newer automatics (I'm old school). The computer does have to be "reset" with your driving habits after battery has been disconnected for a while. This could be why the transmission started shifting ok after two days. If it does then I wouldn't worry about it but you might want to ask someone at a transmission shop for their opinion.

Re: get her going past 2nd gear

It really shouldn't have done that from changing the battery I'm kinda thinking it coulda been coincidence I had a similar problem with my 95 lx and it went back to normal for a while then one day it wouldn't shift out of second after I pulled the tranny out and disected it I found that most of the second gear clutches and bads were scared bad but also that the third clutches and bands had burned completly up. Just figured I'd tell you this maybe you won't have the same luck as me though.
