which do you all prefer????

I've noticed lately, that different types of gas(BP, Shell, Mobil, etc.) run differently in my gtp. some burn down quicker than others, but I can't catch it to see which is which, I always catch it at the last minute to tell... so I ask all my automotive family, which gas runs better in your gtp?

Re: which do you all prefer????

GM along with other major auto manufacturers recommend using top tier gasoline. See link below.

http://www.toptiergas.com/

The owners manual specifies use 91 octane or better premium unleaded gas in any L67 (supercharged Series II 3800) GM engine.

Re: which do you all prefer????

I know that the manual requires you to use premium, but my question was what brand of gas was best to use? I'm for not making that clear enough...

Re: which do you all prefer????

That is an ambiguous question with too many variables. Normally what brand you use is a matter of personal preference, cost and what is available in your area. Obviously you failed to review my link which has the recommnded top tier gasolines and from that you can assume what brand(s) not to use. See the second link below.

I use Chevron brand only in my L67 GTP and Regal GS.

Re: which do you all prefer????

Actually there are two types of quick trips, one is "kwik trip" which sells top tier, and the other is "Quick Trip" I believe, and its just the crappy wal-mart cheapo gas.

I agree with Bob, I always run top tier, shell, or Kwik Trip, unless I let it get so low the low fuel light comes on. Then I fill up with whatever I can find. 91 or better octan of course.

Re: which do you all prefer????

QuikTrip's gasoline is a Top Tier compliant product. Interestingly enough, BP and Exxon's products are not.

Top Tier in a nutshell is a detergent standard. All gasoline has to meet a minimum detergent level by regulations, but Top Tier gasoline must go above and beyond that. Like BNayor said, it's really up to personal preference, but in the end there is a difference.

Top Tier really is not marketed as extensively as it should be in my opinion. Most people's gasoline purchases are influenced by price, proximity and convenience vs. specific brand loyalty. The tough part in marketing gasoline is that it is seen as a ubiquitous and homogeneous.

If you want to see an interesting, in-depth debate on the Top Tier standard, you can read this thread off of the GasBuddy discussion forum from a few years ago.

Re: which do you all prefer????

I use Speedway, I do not have a supercharged engine. On the highway I get close to 32mpg. The prices for gas around me is $3.10.
