93 Astro; Fuel , Air mixture? or other problem?
Wife drives a 93 Chevy Astrovan , 150k Vin# Z .Starts and idles great. Problem occurs when put in gear it runs good till it gets about 25-30 mph then motor seems to lose power.almost as if it is starved for gas. it acts almost like the olders cars would when the choke would stick on them but this has a throtle body with no choke. What leads me to think fuel air mixture is no matter how far i press the gas pedal it still doesnt pick up rpm's. Ive replaced the fuel filter and dist cap and rotor , and fuel pump was replaced last year.... just wondering where i should go next... thank you for your time with any answers you might could give me.

My wifes van had the same problem.... would start and idle great..... revs up great..... but once in gear and going about 25-30 mph would bog down and die.... like you say it acted like it was starving for gas.... let it sit about 5 minutes it would restart but would die if driven past those speeds...very frustrating..... finally gave up in my searching due to limited vehicle downtime... took it to the chevy dealer and the took tech 3 hrs to trace prob to spyder(spider) fuel injection system.... asked why it was quitting under higher speeds but worked under 25?? He didnt know, but everthing else tested good and spider was faulting out..... I replaced it myself and had no other problems with it since but it wasnt cheap and bought my replacement from AZ.... only problem I had was the van kept giving code for bad egr (code 32 i think) and I replaced that before replacing the spider,it still shows the egr code but we ignore it,tech says its working to specs and has a kleen screen gasket.... hope this may help you because our van lost power and died pretty much the same way yours is ...

A 1993 Model doesn't have a spider fuel injection system. Fuel injection was introduced on a limited basis in 1994... Before that it was TBI (throttle boby injection) which operated at much lower pressure (65 vs 12 psi) if I remember correctly.

Re: 93 Astro; Fuel , Air mixture? or other problem?
Ahh the high output engines were available in '93 and prior-along with the "Z" engines- they all went to high output-- Vin "W" engines in '94 and beyond..So it is possible.....

Re: 93 Astro; Fuel , Air mixture? or other problem?
Vin W CPI motors were available 92-94.
However, he says in Post #1 that it's a Vin Z, or TBI motor. |

I stand corrected Leeann94astro is right on both counts--however as she states a spyder assemb not an issue on a TBI.
