Nismo 350Z build
Well hello all. It's been a while since I've been on the forum, and I need to get another car under my belt, so I figured there's no better community to share it with.
I have been looking around and haven't seen the Tamiya Nismo 350Z built by anyone yet, so I hope to provide some good input for anyone looking into the kit (I could be wrong). Just picked up the kit today. I got bored and decided to go to The Hobby Shop, and of course as soon as my girlfriend saw her favorite car, I had to buy it and build it for her. So here goes. sexy looking, huh? I will be doing it in Burning Red however. I'm liking the wheels. I don't know if you can see it in the picture or not, but the front bumper has a mold line on it, and it's more pronounced on the rear hatch. Nothing the 600 grit won't get rid of, but something to note about the kit. I won't have access to my tools until late next week. So for now I'm just going to get the main body prepped and painted the rattle can way! Thanks for checking this out.

Re: Nismo 350Z build
Alright, after I don't know how long this is where I stand with this car... granted I've skipped posting for a while, I'm just about done. I'll try to show as much as I can.
I would have liked to use some flocking, but I didn't want to wait for it. None of my LHSs have any. gotta love those metal transfers I was amazed to find these. Revell sure doesn't do this for ya! (but i guess revell doesn't charge 40 bucks either....) I had a slight mishap with the hood. Long story short, I was sanding to smooth it out, and burned through. So I tried to fix it, made it worse, and had to sand more away. I'm going to wait for some carbon fiber decal to get here and go that route more than likely. However, I still got some decent pictures of the car pretty much done. just a few minor touches left. I'm really excited to have this thing so close to done. It will be my first completed model car! I have this forum to thank! Hope you enjoy.

Re: Nismo 350Z build
I used TS-49 Bright red as well. Just make sure you lay a coat of gray primer down first because if you don't the red will be too bright and toyish on the white plastic. You get a much deeper red with the gray primer. the diffusor and sideskirts were gunmetal (X-10). In my opinion they could use a little darkening. I was thinking of covering them with a thin coat of smoke (X-19).

Re: Nismo 350Z build
do its better to use gray primer in stead of white? I have a coat of white primer on already.....looks like i'll have to give it a coat of gray then.

Re: Nismo 350Z build
You know if had not read your comments on the scuff on the hood I first thought you were going for a real car look then I saw what you type in. If you can find a photo of that type of scuff I would keep it as it realy gives the car a more real appearance.
But covering up the scuff with CF will work as well. Good luck man, I still think it came out realy well.
