it was good while it lasted...
today my car was diagnosed with nearly 800 dollars in problems on top of the 1500 just fixed. its also speculated that the supercharger is ready to go. so unfortunately this means that i must sell my car. i know you guys probably dont care but this was my first car, which i love sooo much, and now it must go. its been fun. thanks for all your help with everything everyone. who knows what ill buy next...wont like it tho =(

you just spent 1500 on repairs and now it needs 800 more and your going to sell it rather than fix it? What is wrong with it?

The dealership is probably quoting you to replace the supercharger. It's generally the only way they will service them, replace only. If you would like, I could put you in touch with a friend of mine that can completely rebuild the SC including the snout, bearings and all, for far cheaper than a replacement. Hate to see you sell the car over repair bills, especially when they are probably higher than they need to be.
Also, if you don't mind, what else did they tell you needed repaired?

Why sell it now when you've almost got everything fixed? Keep till the wheels fall off and you can recoup that money. Mine ain't fell off yet so I think I've gotten my money's worth.

I say the dealer never services the S/C to a minimum...they always replace which is costly...
Your supercharger issue could be as simple as a worn coupler (30 bucks from online vendors)...could need a rebuilt snout (200 bucks from ZZP) or better yet for 700 bucks you can get your hands on a Gen V M90... Don't feel bad. I almost sold my car because it kept making stupid noises (none of which were issues of the drivetrain).

the fuel pump, regulater, and one other small thing(forgot what it was) deffinately need replacing. i thought about a rebuilt sc but i dont know how much longer my tranny will last anyway. and the way things have been goin wrong with this car, its likely something else will go. we just cant risk the money when theres a good chance more will happen.

the fuel pump and regulator you can replace yourself in your driveway. (or at least I think the 97 mode year has the fuel pummp access cover)

Many fuel pump issues on GTP's are mis-diagnosed. There is a resistor that controls the low speed operation that many shops aren't aware of. The symptom is that the car will start, run for 3-5 seconds and then die. Fuel pump prime is done on the high speed mode (which by-passes the resistor), then when the PCM switches to low-speed operation through the resistor, the car dies.
Like other stated, the most common issue with the S/C is the coupler in the snout, which is fairly inexpensive to replace. Always remember, all used cars have their issues. At least with this car, you know it's recent history and you have people on here that can help you not get taken when it needs fixing.

well we considered the price of a new snout and everything if that does happen to go, and im getting the pump and regulator put in with no charge for labor, so we decided to give it another chance. although hesitantly. i hope everything works out in my favor and nothing else goes wrong. thanks for ur input.
ps as far as the resistor goes... the car doesnt shut off after it has started, it just cranks for a few seconds before it does start. the guy at the shop who has had a supercharged 3800 himself before, and i assume knows what hes doing (i hope..ha) said that its lost i think 10 pounds of pressure(dont quote me on that) but he said if it drops any more it could die |
